I’ve spent the last 8 years testing software so other people don’t have to waste their time on tools that look good in ads but fall apart in real use.
Before SoftPicker, I worked as a QA engineer at two startups in Berlin. Breaking software was literally my job. Now I use that same mindset to review it.
What SoftPicker Is About
There are thousands of “best of” lists out there. Most of them rank tools based on affiliate payouts, not actual quality. You’ve probably noticed – the same five apps show up everywhere, always in the same order, always with suspiciously similar descriptions.
SoftPicker is different. We actually install the tools, use them for real tasks, and write about what we find. If something is bad, we say so. If a free tool beats a paid one, we say that too.
How we test
- Real usage – Every tool gets installed and used for actual work. No screenshots from press kits.
- Side-by-side comparisons – When we compare tools, we run the same tasks on each one.
- Updated regularly – Software changes fast. We revisit our reviews when major updates drop.
- No pay-to-play – Our rankings aren’t for sale. Period.
